An exposure draft of the legislation to repeal Labor's carbon pricing scheme will be released on the Federal Government's website at 4:00pm (AEDT). "It is a bill designed to not only keep the Government's commitments, but to do the right thing by the people of Australia," the Prime Minister told a Canberra press conference today. "If the Labor Party persists in saying, 'Yes, we support the carbon tax', they will effectively be saying 'No' to the people of Australia." The expenses scandal demonstrates how off-target all that outrage about the media really was. It turns out the press is more interested in muckraking than kingmaking. If the Coalition thought the press was on their side before the election, they no longer do now. In the minutes from its October board meeting, the RBA says it should neither rule out further rate cuts, nor signal an imminent intention to cut further.
