Labor has retained former prime minister Kevin Rudd's old seat of Griffith, with voters electing candidate Terri Butler despite a swing away from the ALP. It is the second time in five months that residents of Griffith - an electorate covering inner-city suburbs on Brisbane's southside - have gone to the ballot box. Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) figures are showing a swing toward the LNP candidate Bill Glasson, but Ms Butler is ahead after preferences, 53.3 per cent to 46.7 per cent. The former industrial lawyer addressed a crowd of supporters in South Brisbane, thanking campaign workers, volunteers, and her predecessor, Mr Rudd.
