It's the end of the world as we know it Post-budget commentary has focused on how tough it was or wasn't, carbon tax, middle-class welfare and the deficit/surplus equation. But the big picture - the industrialisation of China and India - was all but ignored. In the first of a two-part analysis Ben Etham looks at the rise of industrialisation in the west and heralds the arrival of the Asian century. But what does it mean for ordinary Australians? What we have instead are two political parties using each of these policies to fight a desperate war - one to survive, the other to prevail. 'I don't do auditions, mate': remembering Bill Hunter Australian actor Bill Hunter was supposed to have two hours left on Tuesday night but, cantankerously, defiantly, persisted 'till Saturday when he died at only 71 in a hospice room full of mates in Melbourne.
