'Others': the vote that dare not speak a name

Remember The Others, the 2001 psychological horror movie about the living dead?

It didn't have a lot of relevance to politics… well except it was about a big house on a hill where strange things kept happening, and the mother refused to believe the terrible things her kids were telling her.

More in the tank

Stephanie Rice cast her shoulder problems aside to qualify fourth fastest for Thursday night's 400m individual medley final at the Olympic swimming trials in Adelaide.

Rice clocked four minutes 45.70 seconds in winning her heat on Thursday morning to ensure a berth in the final, where she will need to finish in the top two to seal a spot in the event at the London Olympics.

Her coach Michael Bohl was pleased with her swim, saying she had not over-exerted herself in making the final.

"I think it was solid. I think she looked pretty controlled and looks pretty good for tonight hopefully," Bohl said.

The 23-year-old faces stiff competition from Blair Evans, Sam Hamill and Amy Levings who all qualified quicker than her.
