Nuclear agency distances itself from toxic scare

Australia's peak nuclear agency says toxic material that has halted upgrade work of the Pacific Highway in New South Wales did not originate at its Lucas Heights facility.

Road workers were sent for medical treatment earlier today after vomiting when suspected nuclear material was unearthed during the work near Laurieton, south of Port Macquarie.

NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay says previous testing has found no radioactive material at the worksite and that further testing is being done to find other possible contamination.
