Nicholls hands down austere Qld budget

Queensland's Liberal National Party Government has delivered an austere state budget with little in the way of big new spending measures.

The Government has also increased some taxes significantly while retaining Queensland's position as the low-tax mainland state.

In delivering the state's first non-Labor budget in 14 years, Treasurer Tim Nicholls says it is the most important budget in a generation and set the scene for Queensland's future prosperity.
