We won't get equality until we see women as people

These are not 'only' magazines or 'only' films or 'only' advertisements. These are the individual parts of the sum that is our culture.

When it comes to women, the message is clear. Even as we fret about the lack of women in executive positions, we excuse a world in which women are depicted as ornaments.

Until we accept that the real life objectification of women is a direct consequence of the way they are depicted in the media, then we don't stand a chance of realising equality.

Woman acquitted after keeping body in shed

A woman accused of murdering her partner and storing his body to claim his life insurance has walked free from an Adelaide court after being acquitted.

Caroline Ruth Koenig, 46, was charged with the murder of truck driver Gregory Ellbourn last year but was found not guilty by the Supreme Court.

Mr Ellbourn's body was found dumped in scrubland at Myponga in November 2011.
