Philippine militants may have freed Australian hostage

The Government is trying to confirm if Australian Warren Rodwell has been released after more than 15 months held hostage in the Philippines.

Mr Rodwell, a former soldier from Sydney, has been held by the militant Abu Sayyaf group since December 2011.

The group had been demanding a ransom of $US2 million for Mr Rodwell's release.
