DPP can't investigate Fair Work report

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions says he cannot investigate information that Fair Work Australia has referred to him about the Health Services Union (HSU).

His decision came after the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) said it would meet to consider suspending the HSU from its ranks.

Fair Work identified 181 breaches of workplace laws in its three-year investigation into the HSU and its former national secretary Craig Thomson.

The 1,100-page report was referred to the DPP, who says another investigation will be needed before he can decide if anyone associated with the HSU should be prosecuted.
