Federal Court awards native title over Lake Eyre

An Aboriginal group in remote South Australia has been granted native title over Lake Eyre and other parts of the outback.

Hundreds of people have attended a special Federal Court hearing west of Marree 14 years after the claim was first lodged by the Arabana people.

The claim allows unconditional access to the land for hunting, camping, fishing and traditional ceremonies, but local boat users want their access to Lake Eyre guaranteed.

Wilkie to back watered-down pokies laws
