School massacre victims shot multiple times

The coroner investigating the Connecticut elementary school massacre says all of the victims - mostly aged six and seven years old - were shot more than once.

Police have now released the names of the 20 children and six adults who were killed when a gunman forced his way into the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown yesterday, allegedly armed with three weapons and wearing a bullet-proof vest.

The gunman, believed to be 20-year-old Adam Lanza, had earlier killed his mother at their nearby home and is believed to have taken his own life after the school rampage.

As tales of bravery emerge in the aftermath of the shooting, US president Barack Obama has announced he will fly to Newtown later on Sunday to meet with families of the victims.

As the ICAC investigates the Obeid-Macdonald relationship, here's hoping Graham Richardson can throw some journalistic sunshine on the role of Eddie Obeid inside the ALP over the past 40 years.

Conroy defends wireless technology reserve price

The Federal Government faces claims it has set an unworkably high floor price for its wireless spectrum auction so that it can inflate its surplus.

The Government is hoping to net between $2.5 billion and $4 billion this financial year by auctioning off the wireless spectrum, which was freed up through the switchover from analogue to digital television broadcasts.

Telcos have raised concerns, and one has already walked away from the auction, but Minister Stephen Conroy has defended the floor price of $1.36 per megahertz per population.
