Live: Rudd, Abbott make final campaign pitches

Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott are making their final pitches to voters on a hectic final day of election campaigning.

The day is being dominated by the Coalition's dramatic backflip on a mandatory internet porn filter - a policy reversal which Kevin Rudd branded a "debacle" this morning.

Mr Rudd is on the New South Wales Central Coast before heading home to Brisbane for tomorrow's election.

Tony Abbott began his day in Melbourne, where he described the internet filter backflip as a "failure of quality control" and said he would take "full personal responsibility" for all the Coalition's mistakes.

Mr Rudd remains a mystery to us all

Kevin Rudd is a leader who thrives on love, and who for years has kept fighting on the conviction it's still out there.

Was he wrong all this time? How many seats would need to fall for Kevin Rudd to relinquish the belief that only his colleagues stood in the way of his leadership of the Australian people?

Even if the loss is very heavy, I am yet to talk to any Labor person who is absolutely certain that such a result would cause Rudd to retire from politics. After all these years, that's how well they know him: Not at all.

Kevin Rudd correct on Paul's references to slavery in the Bible

Kevin Rudd's fiery exchange with a Christian pastor on Q&A has faced scrutiny by religious leaders and theologians.

"If I was going to have that view, the Bible also says that slavery is a natural condition," Mr Rudd said.

"Because St Paul said in the New Testament, 'slaves be obedient to your masters'."

ABC Fact Check investigates his claims.

Coalition in embarrassing backtrack over internet filter policy

The Coalition has backflipped on plans to enforce an opt-out internet filter, just hours after releasing the policy.

The Opposition document on enhancing child safety online said an Abbott government would force mobile phone operators and internet service providers (ISPs) to install filtering services to block adult content.

But in an embarrassing blunder, Coalition communications spokesman Malcolm Turnbull promoted the policy on triple j's Hack, before quickly backtracking.

Communications Minister Anthony Albanese says the backflip shows the Coalition has hidden agendas ahead of tomorrow's federal election.
