| By Africa correspondent Martin Cuddihy, staff and wires Gunmen from the Somali terrorist group Al Shabaab have stormed a shopping mall in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, killing at least 39 people and injuring more than 150. Shoppers fled in panic as the heavily-armed gunmen attacked the mall at midday on Saturday (local time), and photos from inside showed bloodied bodies sprawled on the floor. Up to 10 gunmen are now believed to be barricaded inside a supermarket and exchanging fire with security forces. France confirmed two of its citizens had been killed, and there are reports of Americans being injured, but there is no indication that any Australians have been hurt. The attack appeared designed to achieve maximum global impact by targeting a place frequented by Westerners as well as Kenyans.
