Election Day live: Australia votes

After 33 days of the campaign, voters finally get a chance to have their official say in who will run the country for the next three years.

Polls throughout the campaign suggest Tony Abbott will lead the Coalition to a comfortable victory, ending Labor's tumultuous six years in power.

Mr Rudd remains a mystery to us all

Kevin Rudd is a leader who thrives on love, and who for years has kept fighting on the conviction it's still out there.

Was he wrong all this time? How many seats would need to fall for Kevin Rudd to relinquish the belief that only his colleagues stood in the way of his leadership of the Australian people?

Even if the loss is very heavy, I am yet to talk to any Labor person who is absolutely certain that such a result would cause Rudd to retire from politics. After all these years, that's how well they know him: Not at all.
