Triggs and human rights: attacking her is wrong

While we can debate the particulars of Gillian Triggs' recommendations on convicted killer John Basikbasik, it's wrong for Scott Morrison to criticise her principles.

The president of the Australian Human Rights Commission was within her right to recommend he be released from detention and given compensation.

We can only hope that Morrison's criticism that Triggs seems to be "always arguing for a fair go for those who have forfeited that right by their own behaviour" is part of a move to undermine the AHRC, and not a genuine reflection of underlying political beliefs.
