Are wearable police cameras a good idea?

Last week Northern Territory Police announced many front line officers will use body-worn video and audio cameras as they go about their daily business.

It's a good idea at first glance, particularly when one considers the amount of court time that goes into hearing evidence in cases where there are allegations of impropriety by police.
