| ABC Breaking News: Thursday 26 March 2015 | | Jill Meagher's killer Adrian Bayley guilty of raping three other women | | | | One of Australia's most notorious predators, murderer and serial rapist Adrian Bayley, has been found guilty of three more brutal rapes of young women in Melbourne in the years before he murdered Jill Meagher.
Bayley, 43, raped and murdered the 29-year-old ABC staffer as she walked home from a night out in Brunswick in Melbourne's north in September 2012, in a crime that shocked the nation.
Now, it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that Bayley raped other women, including a young Dutch tourist in 2012, and two young prostitutes - one of them also in 2012 and the other almost 15 years ago.
Bayley pleaded not guilty in all three rape trials before the County Court. | | | Case 1: Bayley told victim he was 'one of those bad guys' | | | In the first case, heard in July, Bayley was found guilty of three counts of rape, two counts of assault, making threats to kill and false imprisonment of an 18-year-old woman in late 2000.
The young sex worker had been reading a newsletter about dangerous men to watch out for immediately before she was attacked, the court heard. | | | Case 2: Bayley told victim she should have 'pimp' to protect her | | | In the second case, the court heard Bayley told a sex worker that she needed someone to "look out" for her, as he was attacking her.
Bayley told his 25-year-old victim that he used to take steroids and and that the woman needed "a spotter or a pimp".
"This is stupid, you need someone looking out for you," he said, as he was raping her in the back of his car, the court heard. | | | Case 3: Dutch backpacker convinced Bayley to drive her home after rape with promise not to go to police | | | In the third case, a Dutch backpacker raped by Bayley feared for her life as she tried to convince him that she would not go to the police, the court heard.
The jury found Bayley guilty of one count of rape, one count of false imprisonment, two counts of indecent assault and one count of common assault.
With the final guilty verdict, suppression orders have been lifted on all three trials. | | For complete coverage visit ABC News. | | About this email: You received this email because you are subscribed to ABC News email alerts.
