There's a polling riddle playing out at the moment where the Government's small recovery in the polls seems at odds with the discourse that says our Prime Minister is a dead man walking. This can perhaps be explained by looking at the issue of national security, where the Government's broad approach is endorsed but Tony Abbott's support is split on party lines. It seems Abbott's friends are hugging him that bit tighter while the haters just see more reasons to hate, so the PM needs to convince more Australians he's in their corner.
