UN report scathing of Barrier Reef plan

UNESCO releases its highly-anticipated report on the Great Barrier Reef's future, warning that rapid development is threatening the value of the pristine marine park.

The highly anticipated report into the management of the reef, released this morning, warns it could be listed as a World Heritage site in danger unless substantial changes are made to Australia's management of the area.

The report says the Government needs to implement a strategic assessment before considering future developments around the reef.
