Australian lawyer for Gaddafi's son held in Libya

An Australian lawyer working for the International Criminal Court (ICC) has been detained in Libya for trying to pass "dangerous letters" to the son of former leader Moamar Gaddafi.

A representative from the ICC says Melinda Taylor was part of a four-member delegation that was given permission to visit Saif al-Islam in Zintan, where he is being detained.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says consular officials are seeking access to Ms Taylor and clarification from Tripoli about why she has been detained.
