Live blog: US election day

Voting is underway in the United States as Americans decide whether Barack Obama or Mitt Romney will be their next president.

The two men were locked in the polls heading into election day but pollsters give Mr Obama a slight advantage in key swing states.

The first meaningful results are expected to start rolling in about 11:00am AEDT.

Grandstanding about mobiles won't reduce the road toll

On Monday, the Herald Sun reported that Victoria's chief highway patrol cop wanted the government to force drivers to switch their phone off in cars.
