If you want to understand the contempt in which audiences are held by many in the media, look no further than the response to the proposed changes to media laws.

The Daily Telegraph led the way by showing Communications Minister Stephen Conroy alongside Stalin, Mao, Castro, Kim, Mugabe and Ahmadinejad. Its headline: "Conroy Joins Them."

There is a serious discussion to be had about media regulation. Pity that instead of having it, the Telegraph is attempting to bully its audience with hyperbole and cheap photoshopping tricks.
