Gillard leaves door open to Abbott asylum deal

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has not ruled out a deal with the Opposition Leader on asylum seekers, but has called on Tony Abbott to clarify his position.
Mr Abbott has offered to help the Government change the law to put offshore processing beyond legal doubt after the High Court killed-off plans to send asylum seekers to Malaysia.
But Ms Gillard says she is concerned Mr Abbott does not accept the Government's legal advice and she wants the offer to apply generally, not just to his "narrow" Nauru solution.More »
