Two arrested after consulate siege drama

Two men are in custody after a six-hour police operation around the Chinese consulate in Sydney's inner west this morning.

Police sharpshooters and tactical response team officers had cordoned off the streets around the consulate in Camperdown after four shots were heard at about 1:30am.

It is believed a man was holed up inside the consulate after a botched robbery attempt at the nearby Alfred Hotel.
