States in 'bidding war' to keep Qantas jobs

The Qantas review of maintenance services is expected to start a jobs "bidding war" between Victoria and Queensland.

The airline has revealed 500 workers will lose their jobs across the country, mainly in the catering and engineering sectors, but more will go after the review is completed.

Qantas conducts heavy maintenance at Avalon, Tullamarine in Victoria and in Brisbane but plans to consolidate the sites after the review.
