By the National Reporting Team's Mark Solomons For the first time, police have targeted a recreational motorcycle group as part of the Queensland Government's crackdown on so-called "outlaw" clubs. On Friday night 20 officers raided the clubhouse of the Vietnam and Veterans Motorcycle Club, near Brisbane. The club restricts membership to men who fought in Vietnam and decorated ex-servicemen, and is not on the list of 26 banned organisations included in the state's anti-bikie laws. No-one was searched, arrested or cautioned during the raid, which police say was "part of a strategy to develop a rapport with legitimate members of the motorcycle riding community". It comes as the ABC reveals that Queensland police plan to use a little-known provision to prosecute members of outlaw clubs for gathering in groups, even if the meeting happened in other states.
