Climate talks in Lima have gone into extra time with long-running issues still dividing the parties.

The delay sparked fears that watered-down goals would undermine a UN conference in Paris next year.

Representatives from 190 countries remain split over issues including greenhouse gas cuts and new cash to help poor nations cope with a warming world.

It was hoped the Peru talks which began on December 1 would build on the momentum following a climate deal last month between China and the United States.
