ABC NewsMail - Morning Edition

Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • Donald Trump has held his first press conference as President-elect. He refused to answer questions from "fake news" organisations like BuzzFeed and CNN, suggested that US intelligence agencies may have released unsubstantiated reports about him, and insisted that a wall (not a fence) would be built along the Mexican border

  • Indonesia's Department of Transport has accused Tigerair Australia of breaching its licence conditions. Hundreds of passengers have been left stranded by the snap decision to suspend the budget airline from flying from Bali to Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne

  • The prosecution has delivered its opening address in the second indecent assault trial involving Rolf Harris. The 86-year-old Australian entertainer is facing seven charges of sexual assault made by seven separate women

Is hot desking all it's cracked up to be? Engineering consultant Andrew Pettifer doesn't think so: "You get nice, clean desks, but are people being more productive or not? I'd say it's pretty marginal."

Here's what's coming up:

  • 9:20am AEDT: The Elvis Express departs Sydney train for the 25th annual Parkes Elvis Festival

  • 10:00am AEDT: The retrial of Robert Xie continues at the Supreme Court in Sydney

  • 11:00am AEDT: Day five of the Sydney International begins

  • 7:40pm AEDT: Melbourne Renegades take on Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash

  • 7:50pm AEDT: Adelaide United take on Melbourne City in the A-League
