ABC NewsMail - Morning Edition

Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • Michael Chamberlain, whose daughter Azaria was snatched by a dingo in 1980, has died aged 72. The Chamberlains were charged over their baby's disappearance, but were later exonerated

  • Ipswich City Council has pulled funding from an event organised by former One Nation candidate Shan Ju Lin. Ms Lin, who is refusing to apologise for anti-gay remarks, is the president of a group which is organising a "World Harmony Day" event

  • Donald Trump has hit back (on Twitter, of course) at Hollywood star Meryl Streep, calling her "overrated". The flurry of tweets was in response to Streep calling out the President-elect on stage at yesterday's Golden Globes

Politicians' entitlement rules are under fire, with the Health Minister Sussan Ley standing down during an investigation into her expenses. Here's a quick look at which entitlements are under the microscope, and the rules as they stand.

Here's what's coming up:

  • 10:00am AEDT: Jury deliberations continue in the retrial of Robert Xie

  • 11:00am AEDT: The Kooyong Classic tournament begins

  • 7:00pm AEDT: Day one of the World Tennis Challenge

  • 7:40pm AEDT: The Melbourne Stars take on the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL
