  • Centrelink staff will receive "Advanced Customer Aggression Training" as the agency deals with a public backlash over a new debt recovery regime. A total of 170,000 Australians have received automated debt notices from Centrelink, but a growing number say their debts never existed

  • The first session of Congress in the Donald Trump era ended in turmoil for the Republicans after the party abandoned a move to weaken an ethics watchdog. Mr Trump tweeted about his distaste for the plan before the back down

  • Turkish authorities believe they are closing in on the gunman responsible for the New Year's attack on an Istanbul nightclub. Local media reports suggest police have detained the man's family

An annotated edition of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf has become a non-fiction bestseller in Germany. The new edition adds comments to the original text highlighting Hitler's propaganda and mistakes.
