Australia allows importation of NZ apples

Biosecurity Australia has given the go-ahead for the importation of New Zealand apples into Australia for the first time since 1919.
It says a review of the importation has found that the risks associated with fire blight and other diseases can be managed to achieve Australia's appropriate level of quarantine protection.
Only commercially mature fruit will be allowed to be imported, under guidelines proposed by the director of Animal and Plant Quarantine.More »
