Libya rebels launch final push to oust Gaddafi

Crowds of ecstatic Libyans reportedly welcomed advancing rebels in Tripoli this morning amid reports strongman Moamar Gaddafi's bodyguard had surrendered and his heir apparent Saif al-Islam had been captured.
Rebels converging on the Libyan capital from east and west were reportedly only three kilometres from the city centre, amid fierce fighting.
The rebels' National Transitional Council (NTC) said members of Gaddafi's presidential guard had surrendered to the rebels, Al Arabiya news channel reported.
The rebels also claimed Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam had been captured.More »
