Here's a question for you: are polls news?

It is a near universal complaint that there are too many polls, too much reporting and discussion of polls and that politics is poll-driven.
Polls are now a permanent presence. Nielsen monthly, Newspoll fortnightly.
The standard politician's response to a poll is to say: "Polls go up and polls go down, we're not watching them, we're just getting on with the serious business of governing (opposing)."
