Accused attacker refused bail as teen fights for life

A man accused of attacking five people in Sydney on New Year's Eve, leaving one of them fighting for his life in hospital, has been refused bail.

Eighteen-year-old Daniel Christie (pictured) was punched to the ground at Potts Point on Tuesday night and is in a critical condition at St Vincent's Hospital.

Court documents says he is likely to have a major brain injury if he survives.

Twenty-five-year-old builder Shaun McNeil has been charged with a series of offences, including maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm, and was refused bail in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday afternoon.

It is alleged McNeil told the brothers he was an "MMA fighter" before laying a single punch to Daniel Christie's face, knocking him unconscious.
