Boats attempt confirmation of possible MH370 debris

A Chinese boat is scouring the search zone in the southern Indian Ocean where searchers saw possible debris from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 late yesterday.

Five aircraft spotted multiple objects of varying colours, and so far at least one of the objects has been identified as fishing equipment.

AMSA says the objects cannot be confirmed as being from the missing aircraft until they are found and recovered by ships.

Five more search ships are expected to arrive in the area this evening. A total of eight aircraft are involved in today's search.

It comes as black box recovery equipment is set to be loaded onto an Australian Navy vessel, with time running out to find the piece of equipment that could shed light on just what went wrong on MH370.

How to spread gay rights beyond the West

It is tempting to express outrage at abuses done in the name of protecting morality, but indignation is not the basis for good policy.

We need strategic reflection on the best way to promote greater acceptance of sexual diversity in a world where too often it has become a touchstone for fear, prejudice and hatred.
