There is real fear that should Prabowo Subianto edge out his challenger, Joko Widodo, Indonesia's experiment with democracy will at least diminish, if not entirely end. Researchers from the University of Canberra and Queensland's Griffith University have spent three years interviewing junior athletes. More than 900 athletes aged from 12 to 17, who were competing at an elite junior level, were interviewed. Researchers found about 4 per cent of elite junior athletes are using performance or image-enhancing drugs. Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria have sent letters to dozens of spruikers warning them they must abide by Australian Consumer Law or could be hit with penalties of up to $1.1 million. The authorities are warning consumers to be wary of rent-to-buy and vendor-finance schemes which leave people highly exposed if they could not afford to continue with the arrangement.
