French soldier stabbed in neck while on patrol near Paris

A French soldier is in a serious condition after being stabbed in the neck while patrolling a neighbourhood west of Paris.

A hunt is underway for the attacker, who police say was of North African appearance and wearing Arab-style garments.

It comes just days after a British soldier was hacked to death in London, but the French president says "at this stage" there is no apparent link between the two attacks.
