By chief political correspondent Emma Griffiths, staff Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's new ministerial line-up has been sworn in at a ceremony at Government House in Canberra. The ministry features more women and some of Mr Rudd's key supporters, while some of Julia Gillard's backers have had their portfolios changed. Earlier, Mr Rudd said ministers were chosen on merit and he wanted Labor's "best players on the field". Also today, Labor stalwart Simon Crean announced he will quit politics at the federal election after a 23-year career in Federal Parliament. More » |
