Hidden camera reveals people smuggler's trade

New video footage has emerged of an Indonesian people smuggler admitting involvement in a fatal boat sinking last year, and describing asylum seekers as "goats".

ABC News has obtained videos of a notorious people smuggler called Freddy Ambon, who tries to convince asylum seekers he can get them to Christmas Island safely.

But he also admits involvement in the tragic sinking of a boat in June last year that is understood to have killed as many as 96 asylum seekers.

Mr Ambon describes that as a one-off problem and also reveals the key involvement of the Indonesian police.

Gillard represents old Labor - therein lies the problem

Driver in court over woman's death at Murray Bridge house

A man has faced court charged over a fatal crash which killed a woman in a house at Murray Bridge in South Australia.

The car crashed into the house, killing Elishia Iannella, 27, and injuring her boyfriend, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Nathan Lee McArdle, 28, faced Holden Hill Magistrates Court in Adelaide, where he applied for release on home detention bail.

He is charged with causing death and harm by dangerous driving and driving while unlicensed.

Workers accuse Indian IT giant of 457 visa abuse

One of India's largest IT companies has been accused of misusing 457 visas to bring foreign workers into Australia.

Tata Consultancy Services has IT contracts with some of the nation's largest companies, including Qantas, Woolworths, Telstra and AGL.

Current and former employees of TCS say the company relies on foreign workers, even in areas where there are no skills shortages.

730 understands that most of the TCS staff working at Qantas are in Australia on 457 visas.
