UK says no Syria action before inspection results

The UK has hinted it will take action in response to last week's chemical attack in Damascus, irrespective of the UN Security Council's ultimate decision.

However, British MPs will be given a chance to vote on whether military action should be taken before or after UN weapons inspectors report back with any evidence.

A parliamentary motion has called for the Security Council to be briefed as soon as the inspections are complete and then "every effort" made to secure a resolution backing military action.

Weapons experts have completed a second field trip in Damascus, looking for evidence into the cause of the poison gas attack which residents say killed hundreds.

Reading isn't believing when it comes to newspapers

Much of the bluster around the Murdoch campaign against Kevin Rudd is based on the assumption that there is an audience that is susceptible to influence of the offending newspapers.
