The Hevilift twin otter aircraft came down near the capital Port Moresby on Saturday with nine people on board. Hevilift said three people were killed while the survivors were taken to a hospital in Port Moresby. An aviation source in PNG told the ABC the pilot was Australian, and Hevilift said the other people on board were PNG nationals. Hevilift has issued a statement saying its "thoughts and sympathy go to the families of those who have died" and pledging to "continue to provide every assistance to the survivors".
