Good morning. Overnight it was confirmed MH17 was brought down by a Russian-made missile. Here's what you need to know:
The Dutch Safety Board report has found a BUK missile detonated outside MH17's cockpit, causing the plane to break up in the air. Passengers not killed instantly would have lost consciousness "within moments" - possibly up to 90 seconds.
The report doesn't say who fired the missile. Malaysia's Transport Minister has vowed to pursue the "trigger-happy criminals" responsible. A separate investigation on who is to blame is due next year.
The safety report also said passenger flights should never have been allowed in the air over eastern Ukraine when there was armed conflict on the ground below. ABC correspondent Lisa Millar said 160 other planes used the air space before MH17 was brought down.
Russia's deputy foreign minister says the findings are "biased".
The downing of the plane killed 298 people, including 38 Australians. Read their stories.
