It was almost as if it had read a book on effective political positioning. The speed and audacity of it seemed to leave the Opposition a little out of sorts, hampered as it was by both its support for the NDIS and its own proposal for a post-election levy to fund paid parental leave. All of which raises an interesting prospect, of a government so confident in its own imminent demise that it is fully prepared to brave poor politics in the pursuit of a significant and lasting legacy of reform.
