Fighter jets scrambled after passenger plane incident

British fighter jets were scrambled to escort a passenger plane to an airport outside London after the crew activated an emergency alarm.

The Pakistan International Airways flight from Lahore, with 297 people on board, was originally destined for Manchester.

When the plane landed at Stansted Airport, police arrested two men on suspicion of endangering an aircraft.
