Minister reveals his predecessor was briefed on Egyptian murderer

Immigration Minister Brendan O'Connor says his predecessor was informed of the case of an Egyptian asylum seeker living in Australia who had been convicted of murder and belonged to a terrorist group.

Sayad Latif arrived in the country by boat in May last year and ASIO informed the Immigration Department three months later that he had been convicted in absentia in 1999 of pre-meditated murder.
