Australian filming Cairo unrest allegedly beaten, arrested

An Australian tourist staying in Cairo has told the ABC he was arrested and beaten for filming a uniformed official shooting at protesters.

Hundreds of people are confirmed to have been killed near Cairo after security forces moved to shut down protests by supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi on Wednesday.

Dylan Bradbury, 24, was staying in a hotel in central Cairo when demonstrations came to his neighbourhood.

He says he was filming a uniformed man shooting down an alley near his hotel when he was arrested and taken to a police station and assaulted.
