Live: Schapelle Corby released on parole

Schapelle Corby has been released on parole after nine years behind bars at Bali's Kerobokan Prison.

There were chaotic scenes as the convicted drug smuggler was escorted from the jail to a special police van, which took her to the Bali prosecutor's office.

After filling out paperwork to secure her release, Corby was then driven away to live with her sister and brother-in-law under strict parole conditions.

She has to live in the community for three years, regularly report to her parole officer and be respectful to authorities.

Family and friends gathered at the home of Corby's mother in Loganlea, south of Brisbane, where they celebrated her release.

The move comes after 35 spot check inspections of Cootes vehicles last week revealed 17 had major defects and were immediately ordered off the roads for repairs.

On Monday last week, the ABC's Four Corners program revealed serious safety problems with the Cootes tanker fleet, with company insiders alleging that old trucks had been brought out of retirement and that many trucks were inadequately maintained.
