By political correspondent Emma Griffiths Christopher Pyne says he was aware of general "rumours" circulating about Peter Slipper for some time but had no advance warning of sexual harassment claims made against the former speaker. The man who made the claims, James Ashby, revived them on national television last night along with fresh allegations about the involvement of Coalition MPs in the lead-up to his legal action. Mr Pyne said that during a meeting in his office, Mr Ashby "indicated to me he was uncomfortable in Peter Slipper's office", but the Minister said he did not ask why.
