Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will today urge state and territory leaders to support laws that would see some terrorists locked up indefinitely. He wants convicted terrorists who are at risk of reoffending to be put in preventative detention, the same policy applied to some sex offenders

  • A court is expected to rule on the bail application of a 15-year-old boy arrested in counter-terrorism raids in Sydney yesterday. The boy is one of five people charged with conspiracy to conduct an act in preparation for a terrorist act

  • A lesbian romance set in 1950s New York and starring Australian Cate Blanchett has topped the nominations for the Golden Globes. The film called Carol earned five nominations, and will compete against Australian movie Mad Max for the top honour, the best motion picture drama award
