ABC NewsMail - Morning Edition

Good morning. Here's what's happening now:

  • A leaked document has shown the billions of dollars in extra revenue that different changes to the GST, including applying it to food and raising the rate, would bring. It also shows that without any change, states and territories are facing a $50 billion budget black hole by 2030.

  • Angela Merkel has been named TIME magazine's Person of the Year, beating out the leader of ISIS and Donald Trump. She's the first individual female winner since 1986 and only the fourth since the accolade began in 1927.

  • NASA has released a new image showing the surface of Saturn's largest moon, Titan. The moon glows green in the image, but that's just a trick.
